Debbie Krauss - Piccolo
Debbie Krauss started her association with Becks’ Philadelphia Brigade Band in 2010 subbing on piccolo for Gettysburg’s Remembrance Weekend activities. Music and history are her passions so it was natural to join Becks’ when a vacancy occurred. Serving as the president for a number of years she has seen the band through many changes and appreciates the wide variety of youthful talent and mature skills within our membership which combines to create a truly fun and rewarding musical and social experience.
Debbie holds a B.S. degree in Music Education from West Chester University and an M.A. in Applied Music from the College of New Jersey.
Additionally, she studied Elizabethan and 18th Century English music at Oxford University. Being retired from her nearly thirty year career as a New Jersey music educator and private flute instructor Debbie now uses her time to perform as a flutist in the Wind Symphony of Southern New Jersey and “Panache” a chamber group consisting of sisters from the Philadelphia Alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity.
She resides with Becks’ resident photographer/roadie Bill Svedas. In their warm weather free time they enjoy boating on the Chesapeake Bay.
